DILAPIDATED STRUCTURES REMOVED
The City of Newton approved the dilapidated structures ordinance in
2008. Since that time 14 dilapidated structures have been removed.
On April 13th Council Member Gary Fomby contributed greatly to the
clean up effort. In one day 7 structures were torn down.
This structure and property was donated to the City of Newton. The
structure was the first to be torn down on this day.
Debris piled and ready to be loaded and hauled to landfill.

There at least 20 more structures that
have been identified as dilapidated. All of these were removed with
the owners responding and making every effort to comply.
Others that have not responded, charges will be filed and the
structures will be removed at the owners expense and will include
fines of up to 150.00 per day .
If you have a property that is
dilapidated or a property maintenance issue contact the City of
Newton so that we can work together to get the problems resolved.
